There are two important steps to get trim weight loss fast – diet and exercise. Without the correct eating program, weight loss is unlikely and in order to attain a trim, toned physique, the correct exercise regime is essential.
Diet
A diet low in carbohydrates is ideal for weight loss. Carbs supply energy to the body in the form of calories. The amount of calories consumed needs to equal the amount burned within a specific period of time in order to achieve weight loss.
Too many calories will result in the body storing additional energy as fat. If calorie intake is lower than output, the body will begin burning stored energy (fat) resulting in a weight reduction. This process is called ketosis and is normally achieved after just a couple of days of low or no carb consumption.
Intermittent fasting is another diet plan that prevents the body from storing fat and promotes burning of fat reserves. The program normally consists of eating one or two large meals during the day and fasting for the rest of the time. No food or beverages can be consumed during the fasting period. However, eating a balanced meal, high in protein and low in carbs, will also get trim weight loss fast.
It is important to keep in mind that both Ketosis and intermittent fasting can result in kidney damage. It is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to promote kidney function. With a low carb diet, it may be advisable to break the diet once in a while.
Exercise
There are basically two types of exercise that are important in a weight loss diet that is designed to achieve a trim body – cardiovascular (cardio) and weight training.
Cardiovascular exercise is designed to burn energy or calories. In conjunction with a low carb diet, weight loss results can be very rapid as the body will need to tap into stored fat reserves in order to function. Interval training that consists of short, high intensity, repetitive exercises is the ideal cardio workout. The program allows for an exercise day followed by one or even two break days.
Weight training is to build muscle tone to gain that ideal trim shape. Weight training can be done on alternate days to interval training. Combined with a high protein diet, muscle building will increase substantially. However, if the goal is not to build muscle but rather to attain a trim toned body, too much protein is not recommended. A balanced, healthy diet in combination with weight training will build lean muscle mass. Weight training can also be combined with cardio exercise. Simply performing cardio while holding or wearing weights will help achieve a firmer body.
Diet without exercise and exercise without a nutritional weight loss plan may help shed the pounds but in the long run, a combination of the two is the most effective solution. It is recommended to consult your primary healthcare provider, nutritionist or fitness expert before entering into a diet and exercise program.
